Sex, Drums and Rock & Roll

I recently heard these words from a good friend. The phrase resonates for me, in part because it’s humorous, somewhat Spinal Tap. What’s intriguing to me is the innuendo of allure, which I believe drummers possess. Is there a sexual allure that emanates from the percussive sounds of the drummer? For the answers, I’m reaching out to a circle of rock drummer fans. One such fan, a young woman who shall be known as Cinnamon, has this to say.

“For whatever reason…the drummers of most bands do tend to be quite “hot” and while they sit in one spot (mostly) – I think there is something about the physical intensity of their playing and their expressions, etc. that kind of does it for me. They don’t have to be the best looking guys ever but, I think its a combo of their energy and focus (and yes, even having their shirt off). Case in point, Tommy Lee (I know, I know) really does nothing for me normally — I mean really the guy is kind of dumb and a pig when you hear him speak. BUT, put him behind a set of drums and its like it was the one thing he was put on earth for. ALMOST makes me get what attracted Pam to him. It doesn’t hurt that I saw their “video” either but, that’s another topic. I am not saying I did this, BUT I would imagine if someone ever had really great sex with a drummer, then that allure may hold fast when admiring other drummers…. Like I say, just a theory.”

Cinnamon has me curious (no, not bi-curious). Is this effect exponentially true for the less common female drummer?

To be continued…

Eagles Drummer Says New Album in the Works

It’s challenging to find celebrity drummer news or gossip, but this qualifies. Don Henley, that guy that played drums for The Eagles (OK, he can sing too), says that he and band mates are almost done with a new studio album. It’s been almost 30 years. For the love of God, can these guys still write music? Can Henley still play with the same mediocrity that he made famous. (Sorry Don, I only wish I could sing and write hits like you once did.)
